What does it feel like?
In hypnosis both mind and body are very
pleasantly calm and relaxed. Some people equate
it to that deeply comfortable feeling of
relaxation you experience when you are waking
up, awake but so relaxed you don’t want to move.
The mind is highly focused, like when you lose
yourself in a film, or when reading a book you
become so engrossed you fully imagine the images
described in the pages, and time just seems to
fly by.
You may of experienced moments when you have
been so engrossed, so absorbed in what you are
doing, you have been completely unaware that
someone has entered or left the room, and that
they may have been trying to ask you if you
wanted a cup of tea. It can be said that such
things as day-dreaming itself is an hypnotic
state, and that everyone experience hypnotic
states on a daily bases.
You can enjoy this natural relaxed state
whenever you want once you have been shown self
hypnosis.

How do I know I can be
hypnotised?
Anyone can be hypnotised to one degree or
another. As long as you feel confident,
comfortable and relaxed with your chosen
therapist, and are willing to be hypnotised, you
will more than likely be Hypnotised. The
therapist has a variety of techniques to choose
from to suit each individuals needs, and with
time you will find it easier and quicker to
achieve deeper and deeper states of hypnosis.

Could I be influenced to
do anything against my will?
NO absolutely not.
You are in complete control throughout, and will
be aware of what is happening at all times. You
can respond to anything in the way you want to
respond. For example, if a fire alarm was to
sound whilst you were in trance, you would
immediately awaken without assistance and
respond to the alarm in the appropriate way. Any
suggestions that you do not agree with would
simply be rejected. The aim for the therapist is
to help you achieve the goals and changes you
want to achieve. As therapists we subscribe to
the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis ethics
and
Code of Conduct

What about stage
hypnosis?
Stage hypnosis is for entertainment only.
The Hypnotist will carefully select willing
participants from the audience, these
participants want to be there and are
willing to do silly things to help the
hypnotist put on an entertaining show.

Could I become ‘stuck’ in
hypnosis?
No you cannot become trapped or stuck in a
hypnotic state. Even unassisted you will come
out of trance whenever you are ready, whenever
you want to.

Can I speak whilst in hypnosis?
Yes and in some cases you may be
encouraged to do so.

Will I remember it?
Amnesia is a common hypnotic phenomenon and can
happen spontaneously. Just like dreams you may
find it difficult to remember the content.
Generally people will retains as much
recollection as is required for improvement.

How many sessions will I
need?
This will depend on the therapy requested, and
how deep rooted the issue is and how well you
respond. As with all therapies, some people
respond quicker than others. Some therapies will
only take a single session whilst others will
take longer. In general we would work up to the
point when you feel you have done enough.
